LOCATION
Located near the bridge in the centre of the station, this area houses the many complex servers and equipment needed to allow radio headset communication. Requires Telecommunications access to enter and accessible via Central Primary Hallway.
Telecommunications is located to the far right side of engineering.

Overview
Control Room
Telecommunications, A.K.A telecomms, is essentially the core of the communications of the station.
This room is where the Network Admin will spend most of their shift. The room contains a message monitoring console, a server monitoring console and a traffic control console.

Access
To the left of this room is a small break area. There is a NetDrobe in the south-west corner with some spare clothing for the signal technician, a microwave and donk pockets for when they get hungry, and a shot glass with a full vodka bottle for those long shifts.
The CE and Captain have access to the telecommunications satellite

Notes
Automated Arrivals Announcement System
The Telecommunications satellite contains several subspace equipments that you could use for research, but the main part of it are the consoles and the communication hubs.
This system announces the name and rank of a new crew member over the common channel when they join. If a head of staff joins late, it will announce the new arrival on the departmental radio channel as well.

Server Monitoring Console
This console logs communication over all radio channels. Useful if you really want to listen in on security or command radio and can't get a headset.

Message Monitor Console
This console logs the PDA messages that go through the server. This requires a decryption key that starts in the Chief Engineer's office.
A new feature of the message console is the added ability to send admin messages, you can of course change the name of the sender to anyone you like. For example, you could impersonate the Captain and order energy guns for the Science department to "research". Be careful though, if the Quartermaster replies his message will go to the Captain.

Tech Storage
This room is where spare parts are kept in case some pranksters decide to dismantle the telecommunications equipment in the server room. Both stock parts (eg. subspace ansibles and capacitors) and machine boards (eg. telecommunications server board and hub mainframe board) are kept here. There is also a pipe dispenser in this room.

To the right of this room there is the telecomms SMES, which is wired into the main power supply. The freezer is also kept here, which is vital to be kept on at all times, as it is responsible for the temperature of the server room.

Server Room
The server room is where the equipment responsible for keeping telecoms functioning is held. The equipment in this room runs in a super-cooled environment to avoid overheating. Entering this room without the proper protective equipment can be fatal. There are shutters to see out (or in) to the server room, located next to the Bridge.

The telecommunication system can look overly complicated, and it is.
Purpose: Gives the station a way to communicate through different radio channels.
Key items: Message monitor console, teleporter, telecomms equipment
Workers: Network Admin
Access: Network Admin, Captain, Chief Engineer
Exits: South to Central Primary Hallway
Engineering

Located near the bridge in the centre of the station, this area houses the many complex servers and equipment needed to allow radio headset communication. Requires Telecommunications access to enter and accessible via Central Primary Hallway.

Control Room

This room is where the Network Admin will spend most of their shift. The room contains a Telecom server monitor.gif message monitoring console, a Telecom server monitor.gif server monitoring console and a Telecom traffic control.gif traffic control console.

To the left of this room is a small break area. There is a NetDrobe in the south-west corner with some spare clothing for the signal technician, a microwave and donk pockets for when they get hungry, and a shot glass with a full vodka bottle for those long shifts.

Aas on.gif Automated Arrivals Announcement System

This system announces the name and rank of a new crew member over the common channel when they join. If a head of staff joins late, it will announce the new arrival on the departmental radio channel as well.
