Escape has been bombed! Get to the pods!
Purpose: An alternative choice to evacuate the station.
Key items: Two chairs and an intercom inside, emergency space gear and pickaxe in a safe
Workers: None
Access: Everyone who can reach a pod
Exits: Depends on the Escape Pod
General

The escape pods are small un-piloted vessels designed to evacuate those crew members who cannot reach the main Escape Shuttle.

All escape pods feature seating for up to two crew members, a status screen to see the ETD (Estimated Time to Depart) of the pods, a pod control computer, intercom and safe. The pods are automatic; they have no computer to emag and will leave when the escape shuttle does.

Escape Pod Locations

There are four escape pods located on the station; two are public and two require additional access to enter their location.

Arrivals

BoxStation arrivals pods.

The most commonly used escape pods are located in Arrivals. There are two here for public use - located above and below the Arrivals Shuttle.

Brig

BoxStation brig pod.

A less commonly used pod that requires brig access or go through space to locate. Useful for transporting a single prisoner with an officer. This pod is located north-east of the Brig.

Engineering

BoxStation engineering pod.

The least used escape pod on the station that requires engineering access or go through space to locate. This pod is located south-east of Engineering.

How do the pods work?

All escape pods will launch when the escape shuttle launches, taking with them anyone who is currently inside them. Like with the escape shuttle, people who are on the window and door tiles of the pods will also escape; you can use this to carry more than two people in one pod (or just have people lay down). When people are laying down, you can stack an unlimited number of people on one tile, so if someone manages to make the escape shuttle unreachable, expect to be fitting upwards of 30 people into those two little pods. If you stand up in one of these situations, expect to be clubbed to death or spaced as people scramble to get aboard.

In emergencies, pods can also be launched to Lavaland. The safe in the pod wall contains emergency EVA gear and a pickaxe to dig yourself out the rock.

Where do the pods land?

Recovery ship.

Due to recent Nanotrasen policy changes, escape pods no longer evacuate to a gibbing chamber and are instead picked up by a recovery ship. The recovery ship landing will put you in a large room with a sleeper and medical supplies to treat the wounded with until Centcom officials arrive. There is a security desk on the west side of the room, a shared dormitory through the south-west airlock, and the cockpit to the south.

For Evildoers

The pods can be extremely helpful for anyone with "escape alive" objectives, as they count for this goal. Leaving in one of these can avoid the intense action of the escape shuttle's final minutes and potential discovery. "Escape alone" requires you to escape alone on the escape shuttle - the pods are not required to be empty to succeed, but escaping in one (even if the shuttle is then entirely empty) will fail the objective. Lastly, cult members escaping on pods do not count towards the escaping acolyte number.

Escape Pod Locations

There are four escape pods located on the station; three are public and one requires additional access to enter its location. You do not need additional maintenance access to reach GaxStation pods, any door with a pods sign is all access.

Arrivals

The most immediately accessible escape pod is located in Arrivals. Located to the north-east of the Arrivals Shuttle.

Brig

GaxStation brig pod.

A less commonly used pod that requires brig access or go through space to locate. Useful for transporting a single prisoner with an officer. This pod is located west of the Brig.

Dormitory South

GaxStation dormitory south pod.

This pod is located in maintenance below the south Dormitory.

Dormitory North

GaxStation dormitory north pod.

This pod is located in maintenance to the east of the north Dormitory.
