It's free real estate!
Purpose: To build a base for Lavaland.
Key items: Empty space, building materials.
Workers: None
Access: Anyone with mining, research or construction access.
Exits: South to Arrivals, Lavaland
Supply

Located above the arrivals shuttle, this is where the crew can build a base for Lavaland. Once you are happy with what you have built, have the miners activate their special beacon at the desired landing zone and punch in the teleportation sequence on the big blue computer. Now put on some internals and colonize! Kill the local fauna and indigenous population, start a cannabis plantation on the fertile volcanic soil, and create even more bases with the help of engineering!

But, be careful! The untamed lavaland is prone to ashstorms! You will need roofs to shield you from the blazing ashes! How to build roofs you ask? Simple, delineate an area with the Chief Engineer's blueprint.

Construction

When you first enter the auxiliary base, you will be inside a small room with the actual base located to the west. This room contains a number of items to assist you in building the perfect base!

Inside the room there are:

  • Tool closets, containing tools and cables
  • Supplies such as camera assemblies and airlock electronics
  • Glass, metal, plasteel and metal rods
  • A Rapid Piping Device (RPD)

The room also contains a mining shuttle console and a base construction console.

When building a base, remember to consider the basics:

  • Walls, airlocks, windows and air.
  • Defense turrets to fend off local wildlife.

The base comes with the following unique equipment:

  • Shuttle Dock - which, when activated, will allow the Mining Shuttle to land at the beacon anywhere on Lavaland.

Deployment

In order to deploy an Aux Base onto Lavaland, a miner first has to activate a Landing Beacon where they want it to land. This device is found inside any Miner Personal Locker. Once placed a warning will be sent to the station that a drop point has been deployed, and the base can be sent at any time.

In order to send the actual base someone has to physically interact with the console at the center of the Aux Base - after a few moments this will launch the base down to the beacon.

Note: An intrepid crew can launch multiple Auxiliary Bases which can allow a crew to link up multiple buildings and create a large, and sprawling, Auxiliary Base.

Storeroom

To the north there is a storeroom with even more things to assist you in building your base, as well as some useful items for when you get to Lavaland too.

The storeroom contains:

  • Tool closets, containing tools and cables
  • A mining locker
  • A mining voucher
  • Toolbelt and tools
