The Courtroom

The courtroom is to the east of the brig and is where trials are held. It is usually used when a suspect has committed a crime that warrants perma-brig, execution, or cyborgification. But if you are being held unfairly or would like a shorter sentence then call for a lawyer anyway, they will always be happy to help!

The courtroom has two parts to it: a viewing area and the judging area. If there is a court case going on it may be a very splendid time to use a bomb if you have to escape alone.

The viewing area holds nothing of value and is accessible by everyone through the airlock on the left of the room. It is a small space, but holds seating for up to twelve viewers. On the tables at the back of the room you will find a copy of Space Law. Use this to read through and get accustomed to the law before watching the trial. You might get to be a lawyer one day with enough hard work.

The judging area is only accessible to people with courtroom or security access, and has two entrances: one through the viewing area and one through the brig. You will notice a defendant stand, prosecution and defense tables, and a judge's stand. The defendant stand is located in the far north-east corner and is secured with a windoor and reinforced glass. Good luck breaking out of that one in your cuffs! There is just enough space to walk around in there if you wish to do some dramatic pacing to get your point through to the judges. The prosecution and defense tables are located either side of the room and have enough space for up to two participants on either side. The defendant's lawyers will be seated on the right side and the other on the left.

The judging table is located by the north wall of the room and is where up to three judges will be seated. On the table is a copy of Space Law, a gavel to make your words seem more important, and an intercom to broadcast the court happenings to the station. To the west of the tables you will find a closet for the judges. Inside is a number of court judgement papers, a full judge outfit (shoes, powdered wig and judge robe), and a pen and briefcase.

The courtroom has three parts to it: a viewing area, the judging area and the jury area.

The viewing area holds nothing of value and is accessible by everyone through the airlock on the north, south or west of the room. It is a large space and holds seating for up to twenty viewers. On the tables at the west of the room you will a microwave and some snacks. There are also a few vendors scattered around the room in case you get hungry during the trial.

The judging area is only accessible to people with courtroom or security access, and has two entrances: one through the viewing area and one through the hallway. You will notice prosecution and defense tables, and a judge's stand. This station holds no space for the defendant so make sure you've told your lawyer everything you need to say before the trial starts. The prosecution and defense tables are located either side of the room and have enough space for up to two participants on either side. The defendant's lawyers will be seated on the south side and the other on the north.

The judging table is located by the east wall of the room and is where up to three judges will be seated. On the table is a number of folders and pens, a gavel to make your words seem more important, and an intercom to broadcast the court happenings to the station. To the north of the tables you will find a closet for the judges. Inside is a number of court judgement papers, a full judge outfit (shoes, powdered wig and judge robe), and a pen and briefcase.

The jury area is located at the south of the room and is where the jury will sit. As this area requires courtroom access it will usually be officers who participate as the jury on this station. The jury have access to pens, paper and folders in order to take notes of everything they may need to.
