Conflatumalations!

You have been picked to be the most abused thing on the station! Good for you!!!

Here is my guide to being a good, robust Borg.

Before we begin, remember the Golden Rule to not be emagged: DON'T TRUST STRANGERS TRYING TO OPEN YOUR COVER, they probably want to either kill you or (if you are lucky) emag you.

An opened up sec borg File:E048d51d6c57c1d586c303c195174cd7.png

Interface and general intro to being a borg

If you are a roundstart borg, you get to choose your name, need suggestions for names? here are a few:

Add dots ((.)) and capitalise a name like Akira,A.K.I.R.A

Choose from a famous robot in sci fi

Make a funny name eg. MASTER ASS BLASTER

BORG! STATE LAWS NOW!

If someone says this, they are not too pleased with you, or the AI, to state your laws, go to the top tab (verbs) then cyborg, then state laws. Show laws only shows YOU, state says them as speech

Help! what do these laws mean!?

Your default lawset is

Only Human beings and bipedal Lizards are considered humanoid. You may not injure a humanoid or, through inaction, allow a humanoid to come to harm. You must obey orders given to you by humanoids, with priority according to their rank and role, except where such orders would conflict with the Second Law. You must protect your own existence as long as such does not conflict with the Second or Third Law.

No1. defines what a humanoid is no2 states that you Must protect people and never harm no3 Defines what you should do when a command conflicts eg

John doe: assistant: AI OPEN TEH VAULT NOW Graytide joe, CAPTAIN: AI belay that order. According to law2, although both are humanoid, the captain comes first no4 This law gives you the right to defend yourself nonlethally (so you don't get REKD)

Right, so now we know what to do

When you start you are given item slots and a tape recorder icon, click this to change module

You can pick from these modules:

Engineering:

You are less likely to be abused, here are some of your main jobs: Fix minor problems, assist with the singularity, Be the port of call when traitors utterly destroy the station. You have many essential tools at your disposal, including (but not limited to) a majority of the items from a toolbox, a metal dispenser and a glass and wire dispenser. These dispensers regenerate over time while you charge and are a Godsend, you will need them... You also have a flash at your disposal and it is wise to save it so it doesn't burn out (even though it can be fixed)some uses: Incapacitating people causing damage or harm, to stun fellow borgs or as a traitor to aid killing people. If you are emagged, you will gain a electric arm that acts like a ghetto stun baton.

You also have a rapid construction device, it has 3 settings, walls and floors, airlocks and de construct.

A mini guide to rapid fixing:

Walls:Simply click the girder with metal, if the space is blank either use your RCD or create grille from metal sheet, wrench it and then add metal

Floors: If there is just empty space use your RCD else just add tiles

Wiring: Crowbar the floor and stand the direction you want to place wire in from the previous tile, and click.

SECURITY BORG

Without a doubt these are the ones that get wrecked first by non antags, also most likely to be emagged

As a sec borg you should always check in with the HOS for an assignment although it is mostly patrol. You also have an array of stunning items such as a taser, the taser draws directly from your charge so be sparing in its use.

Catching criminals and playing a sec borg

As a sec borg you can choose to be: THE LAW

A asshole of a bot, strictly enforcing even the dumbest laws and feared amongst all

P.A.L.A.D.I.N

A more vigilante style bot who Will protect the crew first and get stuff done after everyone is safe. (less likely to be abused like this)

Clown racist A bot that always blames the clown and will lock him up instantly (advice, dont be this guy)

JANITOR

Awesomeness on wheels (and less of a shitlord than the average Janitor), wherever you go you clean! easy as that, you also have a light replacer and a trash bag and you don't slip people with the trail ((if only they dispensed cakes))

SERVICE

Basically, you dispense money and space beer, there are different styles to choose from such as BRO and BUTLER

MINING

A helpful workhorse who can mine minerals, very good as bait for monsters

MEDICAL

The cute little borg that heals people, see medical for a in depth guide to healing, for now just use a anazlyer and if the damage is brute, spam bruise packs and ointment.

TERMINOLOGY

For those who don't understand the terms used by borgs and roboticists alike here is a brief guide.

LOCKDOWN

when a borg has been naughty, the RD can lock them, making them unable to move

BLOWN/BLOW BORGS

This is when the RD hates the borgs or is evil or (insert other excuse here) , it blows them up, you can survive after this, as a brain in an mmi, so GET ROBOTICS to make radio enabled ones, so you can cry for help

MODULE RESET

A upgrade where your module is reset, to perform this, print a module reset board from the fabricators, ask a human to unlock and crowbar you open and put the board in you Easy (don't state these instructions unless the human is incompetant)

RECLASSIFICATION

A upgrade which allows humanoids to change your name, they must click the board to name it and insert it while you are open.

EMAG/EMAGGING

A proceedure in which a traitor (syndicate) can set a borg's laws and give it access to weapons and deadly items this is done by,

.unlocking the cover .crowbaring the cover open .removing a battery .Spamming the emag

HACKING BORGS

Borgs can be hacked through normal means to do things such as, de-lock them, disable camera etc. This is done by exposing the wiring (see borg maintenance) and then cutting wires until something happens.

MAINTENANCE

To open a borg, unlock his cover, then crowbar it, if a new battery is needed, simply click the opened up borg (they can still move around when out of power), this will remove the battery, then shove a new one in. To repair spam witha TURNED ON WELDER until it says they are in good condition. To add an encryption key (eg. sec or engi) open it up as shown at the top of this paragraph and put the key in (key obtained by using screwdriver on a headset of the appropriate department)

Good luck! and try not to get blown up, see you on the station... --Kmc2000 (talk) 17:06, 9 December 2014 (UTC)
