Librarian is a good role to play if you want to stay under the radar or good as a role to learn some basic mechanics of SS13, rarely will you see someone actually play as a librarian due to the lack of access and the fact that the library is not visited by many people.
The Librarian starts off behind the desk in the Library of the station (Duuh), and spawns with a scanner for books, and a neat tie and sweater!
The Library can be found in the Northwest wing of the station in the liesure department next to the chapel and botony, and across the hall from the Science department. (picture needed)
The libarary contains bookshelves, able to hold books, some chairs and tables for liesure and relaxed reading, and a private area above for meetings or other purposes.
Behind the librarians desk is a computer and a printer able to print books for you to stock on the shelves! A recorder also spawns on the desk and can be used for any recording reasons, (but most likely will end up stolen...) and could also help you in case of security reasons! In the library, there is a book binder, and a check in/out computer, which are used to make books of your own! So feel free to write all the books you want (remembering that ERP in Yogstation is a bannable offence)
Stocking the Shelves
The one thing that I notice when I walk into a library on a boring round, is the librarian never takes the time to stock the shelves! He just stands behind the counter reading. Stocking the shelves is quite an easy job, you print off the books you like, and place them on the shelves that represent the type of book! Informative books would go onto the bookshelf marked informative, fiction would go to fiction, You get the point! You can print a book by walking to the computer behind the librarians desk and checking the external archive. The books names will be labelled on the left, and the genre will be labeled to the right! Make sure you don't stock books on a genre they don't belong. ((You have one job, don't fuck it up!)) Stocking the books is simple, bring the book to the shelves and click!
Making a book
Making a book is quite a quick job, and anybody can do it!
- Grab a pen and paper, and spin your magical yarn of, 'Wooah!'.
- Place the story into the book binder near the top right of the library and watch as your masterpiece pops out!
- Using a pen, you can sign your name, add more content, and title it!
- now your book is ready for viewers sensitive eyes! Take your book to the librarian ((Or yourself)) and scan it into the computer using the scanner.
- Use the check in/out computer's 5th function to upload a new title to the archive.
- now you may add the catageory, change the author, and view the title!
- After your ready, click the upload command! Now many people can enjoy your masterpiece!
Your own little hidin' hole
Behind the library desk is a door to a tiny room with a shelve, a chair, your extra clothes, and your own desk! This is a great place to store your valuables, write your masterpieces, or hide from shitcurity!
Breaking news
The newscaster behind your desk allows you to put your camera to the test! Keep the crew informed on upcoming poetry readings, the clowns latest trickery, and recent slaughters! Photos taken by your camera can be uploaded to the newscasts!
Traitoring
Well, if you were unlucky enough to be a filthy librarian traitor.. Have fun! You will be a virtually useless traitor, your lack of access to doors and weapons will slow you down, however, there are some advantages, such as the fact that no-one will notice you missing or question you running around being absolutely useless.
