The Particle Accelerator is used to feed the Tesla and make it grow mini balls. The more mini balls a Tesla has, the more power it outputs. More balls means more destructive force, although the 6 Tesla Coils and 4 Grounding Rods is enough to contain the Tesla at maximum Mini Ball count, consider adding more Coils and Grounding Rods if you feel like ordering more Tesla Ball Generators from Cargo.
