Economy

After being sued by the Space Labor Committee for workers' right violations during the September of 2018, Nanotrasen has decided to abide by Galactic Minimum Wage policies. Budget Cards

Departments will get a budget card which is what individual pay is taken out of. They can be found in the respective head or warden's locker. The budget cards hold a set amount of money at the start of each shift, but more can be gained when certain conditions are met.

Civil Budget

There is no set way to gain money to this card, as it is given a random payout between $500 and $2500 each time the paycheck is due.

Engineering Budget

The engineering budget refers to the engineering department, which is built-up of typically average paying jobs. The engineering budget increases based on how high the structural integrity of the station is.

Scientific Budget

The scientific budget refers to the science department, which is built-up of typically average paying jobs. The scientific budget increases based on a few factors. Every time a tech is researched, the budget will gain $25. When a bomb is made and tested the size will be converted into points, which will be converted into money for the budget. There is no money to be gained by making a bomb smaller than any other tested that shift.

Medical Budget

The medical budget refers to the medical department, which is built-up of typically average paying jobs. Payment is made based on how healthy each crew member is, for example a crew member of 5% health will grant the medical budget $5. This budget card also gains money from experimental dissection.

Service Budget

The service budget refers to the service department, which is built-up of typically low paying jobs. This budget gets between $400 and $2400 credits each time the paycheck is due.

Cargo Budget

The cargo budget refers to the cargo department, which is built-up of typically low paying jobs. This budget card starts the shift in the Quartermaster's locker. The cargo points are equal to the cargo budget - gain points and the budget card will gain money, spend points and the budget card will lose money.

Defense Budget

The defense budget refers to the security department, which is built-up of typically high paying jobs. Money is gained for the defense budget based on how many crew members are alive, and how many monsters are dead. This budget card starts the shift in the Armory.

Economy FAQs

Finding your account number

Your account number is listed in "notes" in the IC tab.

Economy Items

Vendors

Since the introduction of economy aboard the station, Nanotrasen have been charging crew for using their provided vendors. With the exception of the permabrig vendors, all on-station vendors require a valid ID card with a linked payment account. All vending machines will cost money to use and the price of each will vary depending on their type and location. Use of department vendors are free to anyone working for that department - for example the engineering vendors are free to engineers, but not to medical doctors. Once payment has been made from a vendor, the money will be transferred directly into the appropriate department budget.

Paystand

With the arrival of economy comes the arrival of the paystands. Paystands are ways to pay someone without having to hand them physical money. Paystands start pre-built in the warden's office on every map and the clerk's office on boxstation. To link the paystands with your account you will need to scan your ID (or the department budget ID) onto the paystand and then name the paystand. Any money inserted into the paystand will now be deposited directly into the linked account.

Bank Machine

The bank vault is located in the Vault and stores the cargo budget. Money can be inserted directly into this machine to add funds to the cargo budget. Money can be siphoned out and will appear in holochip form. Be careful though as, after enough credits have been siphoned, an alert will appear over the common radio.

Security Warrant Console

Located outside the Brig in the public hallway is the security warrant console. Security can issue a citation with a fine to a crew member, which they can then use this machine to pay it off with.
