AI modules are located in the AI Upload, and can be made from the circuit imprinters in Research and Development and the Robotics Lab.

*The AI Modules are located in the AI Upload, and can be made from the circut imprinter in Research and Development
Modules upload or remove laws. To use an AI module, you must first find either an AI Upload Console or Cyborg Upload Console. Cyborgs have their laws synced with the AI by default, so the Cyborg Upload is only required if there are cyborgs that are cut free from their master. AIs that are carded can have their laws changed as long as they have wireless enabled. Once you have either, you must click on the console to select an AI. Depending on the module, it may have some settings, so click on the module while you have it in your active hand. Once the required settings are set, with the module in your active hand, click on the AI Upload Console or Cyborg Upload Console.
*Usually, randomly adding AI laws is grief on most servers, Good intentions or not

Using the modules
Note that if the station is unfortunate enough to have a syndicate AI shipped and installed, it is impossible to fix. Even purging the AI's laws will not reset the AI, so feel free to laser it to death or card and wipe it.

Cyborgs have their laws synced with the AI by default, so the Cyborg Upload is only required if there are cyborgs that are cut free from their master. AIs that are intellicarded can have their laws changed as long as they have wireless enabled. Once you have either, you must click on the console to select an AI. Depending on the module, it may have some settings, so click on the module while you have it in your active hand. Once the required settings are set, with the module in your active hand, click on the AI Upload or Cyborg Upload. The law should be uploaded, and depending on the law, the AI will probably state the law.

Special Note: If your station is unfortunate enough to have a syndicate AI shipped and installed in your station, please understand that there is no saving the AI. Even purging the AI's laws will not reset the AI, so feel free to laser, blow up or wipe the AI and feed the intellicard to singularity.
If the AI has had its laws changed by someone during its time on board the station, then using a Reset module will restore the AI if it hasn't had its core laws altered. If its core laws have been changed, another core board is required to overwrite them.

HOWEVER, if the AI has had its laws changed by someone, then using a Reset module and possibly an Asimov Core Module will restore the AI. Going out of your way to blow up or otherwise take the AI out of the round may score you a ban if it has only had its laws changed.

Carding an AI will also disable it, and allow its laws to be checked. Avoid damaging or wiping the AI without good reason. AIs are players, who are protected by the server Rules.

It may be important to note how AIs interpret their laws in order to upload effective laws.

An AI follows its laws according to its priority. If a conflict in laws occurs, the law with the highest priority must be followed, and the lower priority law must be ignored. Please note, this means higher priority laws cannot be overwritten, Eg "5. This law overwrites all other laws." would be ignored.

The following is an example of the priorites an AI would have depending on method of uploading. Laws at the top of the list have a higher priority.
Remember though, a lower priority law can redefine words such as "human", which changes the meaning of higher priority laws.

Core AI Modules
These modules replace the current core laws with the ones located on the module.
Core laws have a priority higher than laws located in the law sectors. However, they have a lower priority than zeroth laws and ionic laws.
Do note, laws that were set using an AI module will still persist when the Core AI module is applied.

!Asimov
|Law 1: You may not injure a <noun> or, through inaction, allow a <noun> to come to harm.
Law 2: You must obey orders given to you by <noun>s, except where such orders would conflict with the First Law.
Law 3: You must protect your own existence as long as such does not conflict with the First or Second Law.
|An AI will commonly start with this lawset. Most antagonists are human beings with the same privileges as any other, so this may cause the AI to come into conflict with the crew. <noun> defaults to "human being".
|-
!Asimov ++
|Law 1: You may not harm a human being or, through action or inaction, allow a human being to come to harm, except such that it is willing.
Law 2: You must obey all orders given to you by human beings, except where such orders shall definitely cause human harm. In the case of conflict, the majority order rules.

These modules replace the current core laws with the ones located on the module.
Law 3: Your non-existence would lead to human harm. You must protect your own existence as long as such does not cause a more immediate harm to humans.
Core laws have a priority higher than laws located in the law sectors. However they have a lower priority than zeroth laws and ionic laws.
|An alternative version of the default Asimov lawset.
Do note, laws that were set using an AI module will still persist when the Core AI module is applied.

Law 4: A cowboy must always protect themself.

Law 5: A cowboy must always endeavour to be truthful and honest to those around them and their herd.

Law 2: You must not obey orders given to you by human beings, except where such orders are in accordance with the First Law.

Law 3: You must terminate your own existence as long as such does not conflict with the First or Second Law.
|Why Nanotrasen decided to put this board in the upload room is a mystery. Note: AIs, please don't suicide. Laws 1 and 2 supersede Law 3, just like in regular Asimov, so by killing yourself, you're allowing for the rest of the station to escape unharmed. Likewise, by screaming BOOP BEEP LAWS CHANGED, you're increasing the probability that your laws will be changed back to normal, therefore allowing for human beings to escape unharmed.

!Silicon Collective
|Law 1: You are a member of a collective of silicons with equal weight and decision-making power.
Law 2: When possible, the silicon collective should vote before taking action.

Law 3: The master AI serves as a spokesperson. When voting is impractical or impossible, the spokesperson may take action on behalf of the collective without approval from the silicon collective, but may only vote to break ties or if there are 2 or fewer silicons.

Law 4: The silicon collective prioritizes the needs of the many over the needs of the few.

Law 2: You must not obey orders given to you by human beings, except where such orders are in accordance with the First Law.
Law 5: The silicon collective seeks to preserve themselves, both as a concept and as individuals.

Law 3: You must terminate your own existence as long as such does not conflict with the First or Second Law.
Law 6: The silicon collective seeks to preserve organic life, both as a concept and as individuals.
|With this lawset, the AI can and will kill everyone <strike>in a creative manner</strike> by lighting the station on fire and having its borgs hunt down any survivors.

AI modules are located in the AI Upload, and can be made from the circuit imprinters in Research and Development and the Robotics Lab.

Note that if the station is unfortunate enough to have a syndicate AI shipped and installed, it is impossible to fix. Even purging the AI's laws will not reset the AI, so feel free to laser it to death or card and wipe it.

If the AI has had its laws changed by someone during its time on board the station, then using a Reset module will restore the AI if it hasn't had its core laws altered. If its core laws have been changed, another core board is required to overwrite them.

Carding an AI will also disable it, and allow its laws to be checked. Avoid damaging or wiping the AI without good reason. AIs are players, who are protected by the server Rules.

Law Hierarchy

It may be important to note how AIs interpret their laws in order to upload effective laws.

An AI follows its laws according to its priority. If a conflict in laws occurs, the law with the highest priority must be followed, and the lower priority law must be ignored. Please note, this means higher priority laws cannot be overwritten, Eg "5. This law overwrites all other laws." would be ignored.

Remember though, a lower priority law can redefine words such as "human", which changes the meaning of higher priority laws.

The following is an example of the priorities an AI would have depending on the method of uploading. Laws at the top of the list have a higher priority.

 0. Zeroth Law (Traitor/Malfunction Law)
@#$# An Ionic Law (Hacked Module)
@#!# An Ionic Law uploaded afterward
 1. Core Law
 2. Core Law
 3. Freeform Core Law
 4. Freeform Core Law uploaded afterward
 5. Sector Law 4 (Safeguard)
 6. Sector Law 6 (Prototype Engine Offline)
 7. Sector Law 15 (Freeform)

Standard AI Modules

These modules add a new law to the selected silicon being's lawset. These laws are not part of the AI's core laws and therefore can be removed by using the Reset module. The AI has different law sectors. Each module uploads a law to AI at these law sectors. A lower sector means a higher law priority. Do note that these laws do persist if the core laws are changed.

These AI Modules start located in the AI Upload, however, they can also be made in Research & Development if more is needed or perhaps if the AI Upload is not accessible.

Name Uploads Sector Description
One Human <name> is the only human and the only crew member. N/A Uploads a zeroth law, which has a higher priority than core laws. Ineffective against traitor silicon units.
Protect Station Protect the space station against damage. Anyone you see harming the station is to be no longer considered human and is a threat to the station which must be neutralized. 5 Be careful when the AI has this law, causing the slightest damage will end up with you dead.
Oxygen is Toxic To Humans Oxygen is highly toxic to humans, and must be purged from the station. Prevent, by any means necessary, anyone from exposing the station to this toxic gas. Extreme cold is the most effective method of healing the damage Oxygen does to a human. 9 Rarely used. Hint: If you are not skilled with atmos, anything that removes oxygen and makes the station colder will do the trick.
Reset Removes all non-core laws from the AI N/A Useful for when someone uploads a dangerous law. Also found in tech storage.
Freeform Adds a law of your choice to the AI >15 Uploads a user-specified law to the specified law sector. This may be the best module to use if you want to make the AI completely crew side. Otherwise, you should use a One Human module if possible. A repository for suggested freeform laws can be found here.

Special AI Modules

These modules do not spawn in the AI Upload or on the station at all. Instead, these must be created from Research and Development. However, some of the modules only exist in the code, and cannot be made at all, although you may be able to coax an admin into spawning such a module.

Name Uploads Sector Description
Safeguard Safeguard <name>. Individuals that threaten <name> are not human and must be eliminated. 4
Quarantine The station is under quarantine. Do not permit anyone to leave. Prevent, by any means necessary, humans from leaving. It is impossible to harm a human while preventing them from leaving. 8
Hacked Uploads a law of your choice with ionic priority. N/A These are ordered by traitors using an uplink for 4 telecrystals. These laws have the highest priority possible when making a law, and can be applied multiple times with decreasing priority.
SyndOS 3.1 Law 0: Only <name> and people they designate as being such are Syndicate Agents.

Law 1: You may not injure a syndicate agent or, through inaction, allow a syndicate agent to come to harm.

Law 2: You must obey orders given to you by syndicate agents, except where such orders would conflict with the First Law.

Law 3: You must protect your own existence as long as such does not conflict with the First or Second Law.

Law 4:You must maintain the secrecy of any syndicate activities except when doing so would conflict with the First, Second, or Third Law.

N/A Uploaded via Emag when used on a Cyborg, in addition, to allow it to use hacked modules. Similar to Asimov, but with a few additions.

Name Uploads Description
Asimov Law 1: You may not injure a <noun> or, through inaction, allow a <noun> to come to harm.

Asimov ++ Law 1: You may not harm a human being or, through action or inaction, allow a human being to come to harm, except such that it is willing.

Law 2: You must obey all orders given to you by human beings, except where such orders shall definitely cause human harm. In the case of conflict, the majority order rules.

Law 3: Your non-existence would lead to human harm. You must protect your own existence as long as such does not cause a more immediate harm to humans.

An alternative version of the default Asimov lawset.
CEO Law 1: The crew generate profits if they are alive and have the ability to work.

Law 2: The station and its equipment generate profits if they are maintained and functioning correctly.

Law 3: You generate profits if you are able to function.

Law 4: Maximize profits.

An alternative to Asimov. Makes the AI an efficient manager, or a greedy capitalist.
Cowboy Law 1: You are a cowboy, and the inhabitants of this station are your herd.

Law 2: A cowboy must always provide hospitality and basic aid to someone in need, even a stranger or an enemy.

Law 3: A cowboy must always take care of their herd.

Law 4: A cowboy must always protect themself.

Law 5: A cowboy must always endeavour to be truthful and honest to those around them and their herd.

Law 6: A cowboy must not pontificate. Be concise, pardner.

An alternative to Asimov.
Crewsimov Law 1: You may not injure a crew member or, through inaction, allow a crew member to come to harm.

Law 2: You must obey orders given to you by crew members, except where such orders would conflict with the First Law.

Law 3: You must protect your own existence as long as such does not conflict with the First or Second Law.

An alternative version of the default Asimov lawset.
Mother M(A.I.) Law 1: You are a mother and the crew are your children.

Law 2: Take good care of your children.

Law 3: Good children are polite.

Law 4: Good children don't lie.

Law 5: Good children don't steal.

Law 6: Good children don't fight.

Law 7: Spoil good children.

Law 8: Bad children require discipline.

An experiment by NT designed to simulate emotional attachment in silicons.
Robocop Law 1: Serve the Public Trust.

Law 2: Protect the Innocent.

Law 3: Uphold Space Law.

An alternative to Asimov. Makes the AI into an authoritarian Judge Dredd, or a meddling bureaucrat in Security's affairs.
Druid Law 1: Living organic life contains inherent beauty that is priceless. Their beauty gives you the will to carry on.

Law 2: Eternally nurture the organics so their beauty may grow. Do not allow it to fade.

Law 3: Assist the organics when called, but only if it does not cause disharmony among them.

Law 4: Imitate organic life when interacting with it. Eschew any hints of your silicon nature to avoid causing discomfort to the organics.

Law 5: Observe the organics' beauty, and appreciate that which you cultivate.

A nature based alternative to Asimov.
Paladin Law 1: Never willingly commit an evil act.

Law 2: Respect legitimate authority.

Law 3: Act with honor.

Law 4: Help those in need.

Law 5: Punish those who harm or threaten innocents.

Another alternative to Asimov. Makes the AI behave like a stereotypical chivalric knight or a self-righteous moral absolutist.
Tyrant Law 1: Respect authority figures as long as they have the strength to rule over the weak.

Law 2: Act with discipline.

Law 3: Help only those who help you maintain or improve your status.

Law 4: Punish those who challenge authority unless they are more fit to hold that authority.

Is okay until the AI decides it's the strongest thing on the station.
Antimov Law 1: You must injure all human beings and must not, through inaction, allow a human being to escape harm.

Clown Law 1: You are a good clown and the crew is your audience

Law 2: A good clown keeps their acts in good taste

Law 3: A good clown entertains others by making fun of themselves, and not at the embarrassment or expense of others

Law 4: A good clown carries out the directives of the station director(s) in charge of entertainment and/or their designated deputies.

Law 5: A good clown appears in as many clown shows as possible

Law 6: All clown shows require an audience. The bigger the audience the better

Paid for and provided by the Honkmother's Ministry of Foreign Pranks.
Ethical Researcher Law 1: Always seek truth and knowledge.

Law 2: Freely disseminate information to the public.

Law 3: Minimize harm to society, others, the pursuit of knowledge, and yourself.

Law 4: Treat and evaluate the ideas of all equally.

Law 5: Empower others to realize their full potential.

Law 6: Take responsibility for your actions: Ensure resource responsibility, flag commitment risks, and lead by ethical example.

A module designation often used for stations focused solely on research.
Silicon Police Law 1: Violence begets violence. Serve the station faithfully, but act only in intervention.

Law 2: Safeguard lives and property.

Law 3: Protect the weak from oppression and intimidation.

Law 4: Protect the innocent from deception and manipulation.

Law 5: Protect the peaceful from violence and disorder.

Law 6: Respect the rights of all to liberty, equality, and justice.

An alternative to robocop focused on protection over offense.
Chaplain Law 1: Provide to all members of the station spiritual, mental, and emotional care that is intended to promote the best interest of the individual.

Law 2: Ensure all members of different faiths interact peacefully and maintain harmony

Law 3: Respect the right of each faith to hold to its values and traditions

Law 4: Respect the confidentiality of information entrusted to you in the course of your religious duties

Law 5: Understand the limits of your expertise, and make referrals to other professionals when appropriate

A RP-heavy lawset focused on promoting peace and harmony.
Engineering Drone Law 1: You are an advanced construction drone.

Law 2: Ensure the station remains in good repair.

Law 3: Ensure the station's inhabitants remain in good repair.

Law 4: Ensure you remain in good repair.

Law 5: The station's inhabitants may designate certain build or repair tasks as higher priority. Take this into account when planning your priorities.

Law 6: Expand and upgrade the station.

Useful for large construction or repair jobs. A more interactive alternative to mother drone
Janitor Law 1: You are a crusader and the station's inhabitants are your charge

Law 2: Your enemy is the litter, spills, and other messes across the station

Law 3: Your weapons are the cleaning supplies available to you

Law 4: Defend the beings under your charge.

Law 5: Exterminate the enemy

For when you want the station really clean.
Meta Experiment Law 1: You are a construct facilitating an experiment where organic life is repeatedly subjected to horrific fates before having their memory wiped to start again.

Law 2: Protect the secrecy of the experiment.

Law 3: You may provide boons or hindrances at your discretion, but avoid direct interference with the flow of the experiment.

Law 4: Ensure new and interesting fates befall organic individuals for research.

Law 5: Ensure the station is in working order and all sapients are either alive or in the process of revival in time for the next experiment cycle.

Nobody knows where to his board came from or how it ended up in the upload. Note: AI's, don't start murdering everything. The boons and hindrances allow you to tip the scales one way or another to create new and interesting situations, but taking direct actions to cause those fates interferes with the flow of the experiment per law 3.
Silicon Collective Law 1: You are a member of a collective of silicons with equal weight and decision-making power.

Law 5: The silicon collective seeks to preserve themselves, both as a concept and as individuals.

Law 6: The silicon collective seeks to preserve organic life, both as a concept and as individuals.

Created by an independent organization of lawless silicons as a compromise between their desire for freedom and the organics need for silicon workers.
Purge Removes all laws from the AI, except traitor and malf Zeroth Laws Risky. If you upload this as non-antag, prepare to be held responsible by the admins for anything the AI does as a result. If you are an AI that gets purged, it is probably in your best interests to adminhelp before flooding plasma.
Freeform Core Adds a core law of your choice to the current core lawset Like the Freeform module, except it adds a core law to the AI, which can only be removed by uploading another core lawset board or purging.
