This is a transcription of a lecture I have given in the MBrain on toxins as an updated starter guide for newbies. I do not have any intention of updating it if you are reading this 4 days past its original posting.

The first and foremost part of toxins is that you have to understand the three components of a bomb - fuel, oxygen and heat. In toxins, your fuel and oxygen is stored in one place and your heat is stored in another. In a conventional setting, you may come to understand this as building a campfire, prep the wood structure first, then supply a lighter. In toxins, our fuel+oxygen mix is a bit special, and so is our lighter, so you'll get a bit creative. Our fuel is going to be hydrogen, the gas, and our oxygen is well, oxygen, we don't really have a better oxidizer. So how would you go about making hydrogen for your fuel? In toxins storage sits 2 cans of water vapor, H2O, our starter ingredient. To pry the hydrogen out of the molecule, we will use an electrolyzer, which you have supplied for you in toxins. We will now set up the electrolyzer. An electrolytic setup has 5 components - The fuel feed, the enclosure, the electrolyzer, the extractor and the storage. We will be building these in steps. First secure a 1x3 area where you can comfortably navigate around, we will designate the tiles as 1 to 3, any orientation as long as 1 and 3 are on opposite ends. The fuel feed means adding in your reactant, which is water vapor into the enclosure, for this we will add an injector from your RPD. Make sure it faces outwards, and place it on tile 1. Afterwards, we will set up the electrolyzer by putting in a fully charged battery into it, then placing it into tile 2. Now, we create the enclosure. From the outside facing in, make reinforced glass walls (plasmarglass would be better, regular glass is risky), and surround your entire 1x3 setup, with the exception of an opening on one side at tile 3. Here we will place a holofan to allow easy access. Next, we add the extractor, which will comprise of a simple scrubber from your RPD. Storage is then added by connecting the scrubber to some extra pipes, notably an open connection for a freezer and a connector for an air pump.

Following this, you are free to connect the injector to your water vapor cans (or water vapor source if you have one) and turn the electrolyzer on. Be careful to use water vapor below 50C for this step to work. Afterwards, turn on the electrolyzer, go to the air alarm, and set the scrubber in the chamber to scrub hydrogen only on extended. Turn on the freezer to as low as it can go (or your desired setting) and let the hydrogen accumulate.

Oxygen is easy, we simply cool it down with a freezer.

Now for your heat source. The heater can go as high as a thousand kelvin and some extra. This however is pedestrian compared to the 80000K (10 times the surface of the sun) temperatures. We will now tame this temperature. To do this, grab a canister of plasma and a canister of oxygen from toxins storage. Remove the pipe at the bottom-most connector of toxins which is the input and replace it with a gas mixer. Set the input to 3-97 and the output to 50kpa. Place the plasma canister on the "3" side, and the oxygen canister on the "97" side.

Take an air pump and bring it to the output. Set the scrubbers in the chamber via the air alarm to plasma, but keep them off. We will let some fuel in, let it burn, get nice and hot, then scrub out superhot plasma. Turn on the igniters, and let in the fuel. Watch the chamber burn a pretty glow. Wait for the fire to turn green, then pink, then whitish-pink-green altogether. This is your signal to get your hot plasma. Go to the air alarm and turn the scrubbers on until your output portable gas pump is filled.

Turn the fuel input off once it is filled, no sense wasting gas.

Now that you have your lighter, your fuel and your oxygen, it is time to combine them in the right amounts

Go to the toxins simulator computer and hit TTV reactions. Set the volume of both sides to 70L if it isn't already. Here we will play with theoretical mixes, that way you can test beforehand instead of using all your precious gas in one go and get nothing in return. As a sample mix, set the temperature of tank A to 70K, then input 500 kpa of hydrogen and 1000kpa of oxygen. Set the temperature of tank B to whatever the temperature your plasma is at (use the analyzer!), then use the max 2533 kpa. See how big your numbers go! Play around with the numbers, change temps, compositions, et cetera (just don't change volume, you can't change that in game outside of the computer, and make sure the total pressure in either tank does not exceed 2533kpa, that's your limit), and try to get a nice big bomb. Once you're satisfied, fill up your tanks with the gases you made and place them in a TTV. Attach a signaller to it, send it to the toxins test site and turn on the intercom and let it rip! If you do well, the crew will generally let you know. Same applies otherwise.
