Construction
Before you begin exploring space in your space pod, you will need to construct it.
- Using metal rods, create the four space pod parts (15 rods each).
- Align them in four squares to form a box shape until symmetry is formed (see image right).
- Use a wrench to secure the bolts of each frame piece down.
- Use a stack of 10 rods on one of the space pod parts to create the pod frame.
- Use cables to wire the pod frame.
- Adjust the wiring with a screwdriver.
- Install the Space Pod Mainboard, printable in the Science circuit imprinter.
- Screwdriver to secure it.
- Print a Space Pod Core in the protolathe of any department (5000 metal,1000 uranium,5000 plasma).
- Install the Space Pod Core.
- Wrench it into place.
- Install a stack of metal for the pressure bulkhead.
- Wrench it to secure it.
- Weld it.
- Install Space Pod Armor, printable in the Science protolathe, by using it on your Space Pod.
- Wrench it.
- Weld it to complete the space pod.
Setting up your Space Pod
Before you enter your pod and explore space, you need to prepare yourself for the journey. Start by upgrading your Space Pod to suit your needs.
Air
By default your Space Pod lacks oxygen to breathe with. To fill your pod with air you will need to locate an air canister and drag it onto the pod. This will ensure you can breathe on your journey.
Power
By default your Space Pod lacks power, which will stop it from moving. To power your pod you will need to locate a charged power cell, open the maintenance hatch of the pod with a crowbar, insert the power cell and then use a crowbar to close the hatch. This will ensure you have enough power for your pod to move so that you can begin your journey.
Useful commands
- To get someone else out of a space pod - Exit the pod, grab intent and click the pod.
- To exit a space pod - Spacepod tab, exit pod.
- To turn the brakes on/off - Spacepod tab, toggle brakes.
- To lock space pod doors - From inside: Spacepod tab, lock doors. From outside: Insert a tumber lock and use a paired key on the space pod.
- To open station pod doors - From inside: Spacepod tab, toggle nearby pod doors. From outside: Locate the paired lock button nearby the pod doors.
- To turn the pod - Use your mouse.
- To move your pod - Use your normal movement controls - wasd or the arrow keys.
- To use a gun upgrade - Click with your mouse.
Upgrades
Space pod upgrades are all printable from protolathes, once the correct research has been done.
Armor
Armor needs to be inserted during Space Pod construction, after the pressure bulkhead has been welded in place.
Guns
Guns need to be inserted after the Space Pod has been constructed. To insert them, open the maintenance hatch using a crowbar and use the gun on the pod. To remove guns, open the maintenance hatch and use your hand to remove the gun. Don't forget to close the hatch afterwards.
Cargo Items
These items need to be inserted after the Space Pod has been constructed. To insert them, open the maintenance hatch using a crowbar and use the item on the pod. To remove it, open the maintenance hatch and use your hand to remove the item. Don't forget to close the hatch afterwards.
Misc Items
These items need to be inserted after the Space Pod has been constructed. To insert them, open the maintenance hatch using a crowbar and use the item on the pod. To remove it, open the maintenance hatch and use your hand to remove the item. Don't forget to close the hatch afterwards.
