Makeshift weapons are offensive weaponry or equipment that can be made with relatively common and low tech items. They are significantly less effective than more modern and effective security items, but these weapons can prove to be very useful in a pinch and can surprise even the most hardy of people.

Crafting Menu: Weaponry

These weapons are made using the crafting menu (the hammer or T symbol left of intents).

Weapons

Baseball bat.png Baseball Bat

Crafting Recipe
30 wooden plants, 1 hatchet

The baseball bat is a heavy-hitting bat, which causes its victims to be sent flying a short distance.
Only available via the Makeshift Weapons book.

Spear.png Explosive Lance (Grenade)

Crafting Recipe
1 spear, 1 grenade

A lance that acts like a spear, but explodes when hit or thrown. Be careful not to stand near this on use!
Only available via the Makeshift Weapons book.

IED.png Improvised Explosive Device (IED)

Crafting Recipe
1 can, 1 igniter, 1 fuel tank, 1 cable coil

The IED is a firebomb made out of a soda can. It is weak but it can do lots of damage if used correctly, from setting fire to crew to breaking power wires. It has a random timer between 3 and 8 seconds, so use it wisely!
You can fill the can with welding fuel if you don't want to drag around a fuel tank with you.

Pipebomb.png Pipebomb

Crafting Recipe
1 fuel tank, 1 cable coil, 1 igniter, 1 mousetrap, 1 pipe, 1 welding tool, 1 wrench, 1 wirecutters

The pipebomb can be armed and shoved into a container, so the next person who opens it gets the explosion. It is weak and doesn't breach the station, and the damage isn't lethal.
Only available via the Makeshift Weapons book.

Flashshield.png Strobe Shield

Crafting Recipe
1 mounted flash frame, 1 flash, 1 riot shield

A shield with a built in, high intensity light capable of blinding and disorienting suspects. Takes regular handheld flashes as bulbs.

Absinthe.png Molotov Cocktail

Crafting Recipe
1 drink, 1 damp rag

A throwing weapon used to ignite things, typically filled with an accelerant. Recommended highly by rioters and revolutionaries. Light and toss.
Use a lighter on the molotov cocktail to make it useable.
You use a glass bottle with any liquid inside of it.

Stunprod.png Stunprod

Crafting Recipe
1 cable restraints, 1 metal rod, 1 igniter

The Stunprod is a makeshift Stun Baton which consumes much more battery life and stuns for less when used, it will keep a target down for about five seconds which is enough time to slap some cuffs on. Expect to get thrown in the brig if caught with this weapon by Security. It is possible to recharge a Stunprod after depleting its power supply, simply use a Screwdriver on the prod to remove the Power Cell and either replace it with a fresh cell or put the dead cell in a Cell Charger. Rechargers are also surprisingly compatible with Stunprods.

While the Stunprod is great for self-defence it deals poor damage to targets, best usage of the Stunprod is to subdue your target or use it to get distance between yourself and the target.

Use a power cell (battery) on the stunprod, then use the stunprod in-hand to turn it on.

 Alternative crafting method:
Make Cable Restraints from the Cable Coil.
Use the Rods on the Cable Restraints.
Use the Igniter on the rod.
Use the Power Cell on the assembled rod.

Teleprod.png Teleprod

Crafting Recipe
1 cable restraints, 1 metal rod, 1 igniter, 1 bluespace crystal

A prod with a bluespace crystal on the end. The crystal doesn't look too fun to touch. It is possible to recharge a Teleprod after depleting its power supply, simply use a Screwdriver on the prod to remove the Power Cell and either replace it with a fresh cell or put the dead cell in a Cell Charger. Rechargers are also surprisingly compatible with Teleprods.

While the Teleprod is great for self-defence, it deals poor damage to targets. The Teleprod is one of the best options when used to get distance between yourself and the target, though it can potentially put your target into space.

Use a power cell (battery) on the teleprod, then use the teleprod in-hand to turn it on.

 Alternative crafting method:
Make Cable Restraints from the Cable Coil.
Use the Rods on the Cable Restraints.
Use the Igniter on the rod.
Use the bluespace crystal on the rod.
Use the Power Cell on the assembled rod.

Bola.png Bola

Crafting Recipe
1 cable restraints, 6 metal sheets

A simple device fashioned from a cable and weights on the end, designed to entangle enemies by wrapping around their legs upon being thrown at them. The victim can remove them rather quickly, however.

Gonbola.gif Gonbola

Crafting Recipe
1 cable restraints, 6 metal sheets, 1 gondola hide

Hey, if you have to be hugged in the legs by anything, it might as well be this little guy. Use is similar to the bola, but it takes 30 seconds to break out of and causes the victim to become pacifistic instead of slowing them down. Also Mutes the person and prevents them from speaking until taken off.

Tailclub.png Tail Club

Crafting Recipe
1 lizard tail, 1 metal sheet

For the beating to death of lizards with their own tails.

Tailwhip.png Liz O' Nine Tails

Crafting Recipe
1 lizard tail, 1 cable coil

A whip fashioned from the severed tails of lizards.

Catwhip.png Cat O' Nine Tails

Crafting Recipe
1 cat tail, 1 cable coil

A whip fashioned from the severed tails of cats.

Pneumatic cannon.png Pneumatic Cannon

Crafting Recipe
4 metal sheets, 8 package wrapper, 2 pipes, 1 welding tool, 1 wrench

A unique gas-powered gun that can fire anything loaded into it.
Acquire a medium-large sized gas tank, such as a welder, to power the cannon.

Flamethrower.gif Flamethrower

Crafting Recipe
1 welding tool, 1 igniter, 1 metal rod, 1 screwdriver

The flamethrower creates a stream of flame that superheats the air and causes those caught in the flame to catch on fire. It has a range of about three tiles and is most effective against alien weeds and space vines. The flamethrower is great for area denial, AoE attacks, and damage done over time (both from catching on fire and the hot state that it leaves the surrounding air in). When using a flamethrower either wear a Firesuit to protect you against the high heat or move back as soon as you fire the weapon, and a gas mask with attached oxygen.

The flamethrower may simply cause masses of plasma to be spewed everywhere if the pressure settings are too high. It should also be noted that the fuel inside the plasma tank determines the properties of the shot flame. Mixes of plasma and other gases can create different results when using the flamethrower, namely in temperature.
Only available via the Makeshift Weapons book.

Attach a plasma tank, then use the flamethrower in-hand to start it.

File:Improvised shotgun.png Improvised Shotgun

Crafting Recipe
1 Modular Receiver, 1 Disposal Pipe, 1 Rifle Stock, 5 Package Wrapper, 1 screwdriver

Essentially a tube that uses shotgun shells.

Chainsaw.gif Chainsaw

Crafting Recipe
1 circular saw, 3 cable coils, 5 plasteel, 1 welding tool

The Chainsaw is a glorified version of the circular saw, with extra robustness. You can even surgically replace your arms with chainsaws, if you would like your dream about the unstoppable Double Chainsaw Griffon Man to come true. Don't forget to turn it on!

Spear.png Spear

Crafting Recipe
1 cable restraints, 1 glass shard, 1 metal rod

The spear is a makeshift melee weapon which can only be held in your hand or on your back. It deals more damage when wielded in both hands.

 Alternative crafting method:
Make Cable Restraints from the Cable Coil.
Use the Rods on the Cable Restraints.
Use the Glass Shard on the Wired Rod.

File:Lasrifle.png Makeshift Laser Rifle

Crafting Recipe
15 Cables, 1 Rifle Stock, 1 pipe, 1 light bulb, 1 power cell

A makeshift rifle that shoots lasers. Lacks factory precision, but the screwable bulb allows modulating the photonic output.

Crafting Menu: Misc

Extendohand.png Extendo-Hand

Crafting Recipe
1 cyborg arm, 1 boxing gloves

Lets you reach things that are 2 tiles away and interact with them as if you were using your bare hand on them. Too long and awkward to use on things that are adjacent to you though. Basically you can fistfight/disarm people from a tile away assuming they don't close the distance or anything, plus you can unlock lockers or open doors from a tile away and stuff.

Other Weaponry

Weapons not craftable using the crafting menu.

Cablecuffs.png Cablecuffs

Crafting Recipe
15 Cable coil

Cable cuffs are makeshift handcuffs. They are easier to break out of, and wirecutters will remove them instantly, but otherwise they still function as normal handcuffs. You need at least 15 coils.

 Crafting method:
Click on the Cable Coil in your hand and select "Make Cable Restraints".
Alternatively, you can hold some cable and click 'Make Cable Restraints' in the object tab.

Bomb assembly.png Singletank Bomb

Crafting Recipe
1 igniter, 1 detonator, 1 plasma tank, 1 screwdriver, 1 welding tool

Singletank bombs are, unlike TTV bombs, constructed from a singular tank. As a result, they tend towards less explosive power but make up for it by being very easy to create in comparison. Experiment with gas mixtures.

 Crafting method:
Use the screwdriver on the igniter and detonator, then attach them together.
Attach the assembly to the tank by hitting it on the tank.
Weld a pressure hole into the tank with a welding tool.
